If you find those values at ZERO, you'll be good to go for your described change and the use of old images. If you find those values at something other than ZERO, old images, when restored will fail (due to only the IDE driver being enabled and your new hardware being at AHCI).

If I change an up and running Win 7 64 bit OS and data from IDE to AHCI in the BIOS and ensure Win 7 can access the AHCI drivers, will images made whilst the system was set to IDE in the BIOS still restore when the system is set AHCI? I have searched and Googled, but couldn't see anything about this, sorry if I have missed any info.
